Steam Update News:

We're finally ready to talk in more specific terms about the coming changes to Counter-Strike weapon prices.

Most of the weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike still have the same prices today as they did when the game was first released. We at Valve know we're not alone in thinking that some of the prices in the game have never been exactly what they should be. (Uh, night-vision?) But rather than tweaking the values ourselves, we thought we'd let you decide. Coming soon in Counter-Strike: Source is a new system that sets the prices of what you can buy based on, well, what people are buying. This means that each week all of the items in Counter-Strike will have different prices based on what people purchase. We've setup a webpage with more information (steam://openurl/http://www.steampowered.com/stats/csmarket/) on how it works, including what the prices will be when we turn this feature on.

Heres a page abt the pricing algorithm (http://www.steampowered.com/stats/csmarket/algorithm.html)

And the Weapon Price list. So you know how much u have to pay. (http://www.steampowered.com/stats/csmarket/)

I think its a very nice idea to use new weapon prices every week. If many ppl purchase an item the price will raise. But theres only one problem: Everyone is buying Kevlar, m4a1 and ak47. And they cant raise the price till heaven cuz that would kill the game balance. Take a look at the Weapon Price List: Kevlar + Helmet went up 10.4% !! O.o

Desert Eagle went up 43.08%. But look at the bright side. You can now buy night vision for 13.36% cheaper!

Everybody will still buy the M14 and AK47. They're just a billion times more expensive, while the useless guns will still not be bought and get nearly free.

Just found this:

Guys from csnation.net got it from valves linux mailinglist:

There will be a cvar controlling this new functionality, mp_dynamicpricing, you can disable it if you wish by setting its value to 0.
