After a report on the internet stated that the release date was set for January the 28th the site admin at mod-hq.com emailed Valve to confirm this date. Upon which he received this reply from Doug Lombardi:
We're currently targeting April 24th for the release of both Aftermath and Platinum.
Platinum will include HL2, HL2 DM, CS: Source, DoD: Source, and Aftermath.

Sooner than what I thought but maybe that's because I haven't been following the whole Half-Life 2 scene since its release?

I just hope that it wasn't EA that set the release date as they will want to rush it out whether it is finished or not.
I don't mind Valve delaying products so they can be sure they're "ready" but EA are money-grabbing tossers.

Well, EA won't have anything to do with the patches. They're just the publishers. They can put pressure on a developer to finish a game quickly though.
I just depise EA for milking a game series for all it's worth.
They stopped numbering the Need for Speed series after 3 probably because it would be called Need for Speed 9 by now. Sounds a bit tired, doesn't it.
It's the same with all their games.
Pretty much -every- game under EA comes out with a new coat -every- year.
