Nintendo must be happy. PSP has done well, but wasn't the Game Boy killer some were expecting, and the Nintendo DS continues to sell at a brisk pace in Japan, Europe and America simultaneously.

Nintendo of Europe announced sales figures today that puts the machine at over 3.5 million units sold since its launch last March. Nintendogs has unsurprisingly become a hit, too, moving over 1.6 million copies, and even though Mario Kart DS has only been out since November, 800,000 people have already picked it up.

Yesterday Nintendo of America confirmed the company had sold almost four million pieces of hardware. Not a bad way for Nintendo to kick off the New Year.

Surprising really. I thought the PSP would make the DS flop. Personally I would buy the PSP.

I'm not sure which i'd prefer to have.

I'd like to have a PSP for the sheer power to replicate (to a decent degree) PS2 games/graphics and be able to play them anywhere. Oh and the UMD flims thing, I suppose.

But then again that would be, well, not really a down-point, but most of the games -are- just ports of PS2 versions or watered-down efforts so i'd like a DS for the intuitive games that Nintendo are known for. True, a lot of the DS games are franchises which will guarantee to sell well (Mario, Metriod Prime. etc.) but it has a lot more original games, not just in the sense that they're new on the system but the whole concept.

Just buy me both handhelds...

I'd buy neither, especially with the Revolution (and hopefully, PS3) releasing this year. I think I'll buy both, considering Nintendo is aiming to make the Revolution as cheap as possible.

The PSP looks great. One of my Classmates got one. Played Burnout on it and wow its nice. The Resoulution is vy nice cuz of that little screen. But i wont buy it. I think the price ~300€ here is too expensive. Would save more money and buy a Laptop instead of a PSP.

My next purchase will be Zelda for the GameCube. I love the Zelda series.
