Not sure if anyone else uses AVG AntiVirus but if you do, im sure youve noticed its pretty hard to get it to update these days. Ive put it down to just being too busy.

Anyway found out this helpful tip today.

You can add additional URL's to update from which are faster than the free download URL.

Head to C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG6\ and open url.ini

Edit the file with this info

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

You may have to reboot for them to work

A friend of mine did this and im not sure whether it was a coincident or not but after rebooting his PC everything was screwed up. He had to reformat and reinstall everything as it appeared to have screwed up the registry.

No probs here. Just did it to a customers PC also. The two new ones though seem to be slow too :|

Since I had to switch to a free Anti Virus program, and I chose this one, I found this info quite useful. (old Norton expired)
