View Full Version : Google Toolbar for Firefox
I wouldn't normally use it but it has an absolutely excellent spell checker on it. It checks web forms so can be used on forums. Helps me since I normally try to fire up Word and spell check in there before posting.

yes quite often actually, and do you know where the feture origanated from, gmail featured it first and they then ythought it was such a good thing they added it to the tool bar
I don't want to sound picky but I don't think yours is working too well.

I dont like plugins and toolbars and that stuff. Dont like any things which spam or hijack one of my browsers. I only use one plugin and thats Greasemonkey. To avoid the w8ing time and the 50mb max dl per hour at rapidshare.de ;)
I don't use many. Toolbars can be annoying. The one thing I like about firefox is the viewing area is a lot bigger. Shame this toolbar is taking up some of that space. If only I could remove the toolbar but move the Spell Check button somewhere else.

It won't work. Im not too bothered anyway.
Oh and I suggest you try Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/). Most handy for converting BMP to JPG/GIF.
P.S. Why are you using the default style?

hmm i can get u a 2mb for £21.99 with unlimited bandwith thats from force 9 who i am with, www.force9.co.uk
Just to follow on this topic i have removed the Google toolbar to replace it with this (http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/index). Sadly there is no inline (check as you type) extension due to it needing to be supported by the Mozilla engine. Apparently this is an argument that's been going on for 3 years, so I don't think we will be seeing anything like this too soon. Which is a real shame :(
maDDin, all ISP's seem to vary. Bulldog (http://www.bulldogbroadband.com/) are charging £29.50 for a 8Mb/400Kb connection. I would move to them but you have to change your phone line to them also. I would sooner stay with BT as they won't tie me down to going with their ISP. I am waiting to see how much this (http://www.bethere.co.uk/) one will be. I have two ADSL2+ modem/routers already. Much faster than 8Mb :D

SK do you know of any website that can tell me what speed my local exchange can support?
I don't think speed is an issue at exchanges. Its capacity. Sooner or later all exchanges will be moved to ADSL2+. ADSL2 can only reach a max of 8Mb.
You can try Nildram's congestion checker to see how busy your exchange is.

as i think my problem if i want to go faster is that my exchange still only supports 2mb
Congestion status on this exchange is RED.
Your telephone line has been identified as being on a congested exchange. If you are receiving varying speeds between 400kbs - 2000kbs at different times of the day this is likely to be a result of the congestion issue.
A provisonal date of Jul 26, 2005 has been set for upgrading this exchange.
Congestion status on this exchange is Green.
:p
It's just suggesting that there's a lot of people connected to ADSL via that exchange. Like it says wait for the upgrade to see if you find an improvement on any speed issues you might be having.

You normally install it from the website but you can do it from your hard drive.
Open Firefox
Tools > extensions
Drag the xpi file into the Extensions window
