Right. I've noticed that everyone seems to have a small "Reputation" tag appear everytime they post. Being a relative forum n00b I've not seen anything like this before. Everyone else seems to be "on a distinguished road" whereas I appear to be an "unknown quantity". Does this change the more you post or something? Advice please :)
They do increase and eventually go into different titles the more points you get. People can give you points by clicking the Scales icon and selecting if they agree or disagree with your post.
They also increase by...
For every 20 days youve been a member here you gain 1 point
For every 5 posts you get 1
You can give 10 points out in any one 24 hr period
You must give points to 5 other users before you can give a point to someone you have already given a point to.

Aha.. I appear to be venturing down that good old distinguished road now. Seems a bit long winded but fair enough :)
Ive actually just done a counter update and it reset mine from 30 something to 11 :(
Ive only gained 1 point which is odd to say ive posted more than 5 posts!
Ill wait till tomorrow to see if the tasks that run over night update it corectly, if not ill be moaning to vB that ive lost my stats :)

Aha, I found out why my reputation plummeted, some bugger doesn't like my jokes :p
Im waiting for a reply on why they go down after what I just did. You should be able to see via the User CP what reputation youve been given for posts.

Yeah, it says what thread the points were given/taken on and the reason but it doesn't say by whom. Makes perfect sense actually, can see something trivial like that leading to massive flame wars on the larger forums.
Yeah you cant see whos given you points, basically so you cant go moaning back if they give you bad feedback :)
Although I can see who gave me bad feedback.
/me looks at C-X and X-Pro
and to think I gave you a positive point on this thread :(

I didn't give you bad feedback :p
I left you a + point on this thread
I beg to differ
You see its not a green button which means - feedback :)

I can't see anything in my User CP about reputation, so does it only appear if someone has added to it or should it always be there regardless ?

Ah, i see it now. Is that because it needed activating or has reputation been added ?

Well someone left me bad feedback on another thread and it came up as a red button. I brought up the reputation menu and clicked "I agree with SK" and that was it. Not much room to go wrong..
Heh, Ive still got 11 points even though I should have move. Ive submitted a request to vB to find out why this is. Still no reply as of yet.

Maybe if someone else left you a - point first, that would take you down to -1 for that thread, then when I left you a + point, it would take you back up to zero (which would explain the grey dot rather than green or red). Like I said before, it's a really convoluted system.

I feel I should have a million of these points.

I'm on 10 points and have been for a long long time.. :(
I have been thinking same thing, I have 21 points and I have been here very short time.
Well thanks to some very nice people boosting my reputation it's now gone up to 26 points. It's safe to say though that it doesn't go up every few days or every few posts..
