With this Thread i wanna present u garrymod! I played this mod last 2 days. With this mod u can spawn things or u can play with the physics engine. :D

This are only some things u can do. This mod is only 4MB. U can dl it and easy extract it into SourceMod Folder. After that a new Mod appears in 3rd Party Games List. So u dont have to change anything at ur hl2!!!

I found with GarryMod it took even longer. I think that was down to running BT at the same time, which can be pretty CPU intensive.

NEW VERSION OUT! VERSION 4!!!

Heres the changelog:


Added simple camera (for taking screenshots)
Added cannisters (used to propel objects)
Added fake depth blur (USE when holding the simple camera to cycle on/off)
Added ability to rotate picked up objects by holding down USE (This is all thanks to Adnan, http://skew.telefragged.com/mods/hl2/ARGG/ ).
Fixed world ropes coming undone after saving
Added rigid rope to crossbow (USE to change types)
Sprites now update the refract texture - Don't know if Valve left it out on purpose or whether it was an oversight.
Fixed jeep pausing bug
Moved 357 HUD camera to the left of the screen
Fixed crash when trying to grab 3D skybox with the gravity gun (should fix other crashes too)
Activated multiplayer menu - multiplayer is uncomplete and unsupported. Use at your own risk. It's easy to crash - so only play with people who aren't idiots.

GarryMod 7a is out!!!

Garrymod 8 got a big changelog. Biggest changes are officially Multiplayer Support and this new Bloomeffect.


Changelog:

Converted to HL2MP SDK:


Player models are now animated
Players hold weapons properly
Less bandwidth usage
Predicted weapons
Paint gun works online


Spawn menu now replaces all other menus


Spawn menu now has a scrollbar
Context menus for each tool mode
Frees up right click for the tools


Added secondary fire modes:


Weld modes - clears any welds you're currently doing
Face poser - sets the face to random
Eye poser - makes the eyes look at you
Duplicator - right copies, left paste
Ignite mode - extinguishes flames
Paint mode - paint fast
Colour mode - reset color/mode/fx
Statue mode - undo statue mode
Material mode - reset material to normal

cl_noavatars [0|1] - turn off downloading of avatars

Garrys Mod is huge now :o its like 9mb :( (9.1mb - not the 8.8 on the site - either firefox or garry has it wrong :o)

8.3b Released (again)!


I'm making a tiny tiny release. There's a lot of people being 'hacked' by a security 'flaw'. Some would argue that the security flaw is the user that insists on running their server with sv_cheats 1 - but anyway..

Hmm yes 8.3b is certainally a great advance from the first version i downloaded, i play it quite a lot now it has GMOW and VMOD and gmod plus to make it funny :)

theres lots of fun maps and mods on there :) including gm_orbit (a space map) :D

8.4 BETA IS OUT!!!

News


Despite posting about GMod 8.4 in my blog I still get people asking me if there's going to be another version. So I'll post it here.
We're currently beta testing 8.4 on the forums (http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/). I find this is much better method than adding a load of features than releasing and hoping it works.
8.4 introduces LUA scripting (http://www.garry.tv/garrysmod/wiki/index.php/Lua). What this means is that people can make their own game modes and addon scripts that wouldn't be possible with just mapping. Things like as adding your own console commands, round timers, respawning players, setting player speed, spawning entities dynamically.
In the current beta I have a simple example map. The game is normal until you play this one map, which then runs a LUA script that overrides a lot of the normal function. Then the game becomes running man. One player is Breen, he can run at twice the normal speed and has 1000 health, the others are Mossman. Breen has to see how many Mossman's he can kill before they kill him. The Mossman that kills Breen becomes the runner. Simple.
During the beta some of the testers have made new game modes. A predator style game similar to The Hidden, a simple tag game, a freeze tag game and some kind of crazy bullet chasing game.
The game that stood out the most for me was Barrel Mania:

Everyone is a barrel in a world of barrels. In the final version everyone has crowbars only. When you're standing still you can't tell players from barrels. So you have to be careful before attacking a barrel, or it might blow your face off. It's a fun game!

I'm making a tiny tiny release. There's a lot of people being 'hacked' by a security 'flaw'. Some would argue that the security flaw is the user that insists on running their server with sv_cheats 1 - but anyway..

Hey what does gm_serversidebeams do? It makes the physgun beams server side. This means that you can see other people's beams. This is included as a test. There's a client crash that I can't pin down. If you run with serversidebeams enabled and you don't crash all the time then we'll know that the clientside physgun beams were causing the crash.

Gmod 9 Release Date Update

Can you guys see why I haven’t announced release dates before?

A lot of you seem to think that GMod 9 is finished and I’m just waiting until a specific date until releasing it. This is BOLLOCKS. If it was finished you would be playing it. There’s still stuff to do before I can release.

It will likely be on a weekend, possibly on a friday night. My best estimate is the 28th of October. This should give me a week to bugfix/add gamemodes/clean code/finish stuff/compile linux server.

Note: Although this is just an estimate, something will have to go really wrong if it’s not released on this day.
