According to the Halflife2.net (http://www.halflife2.net/) site, as well as a new update to Steam apparently addressing the sound stutter problem, it is reported that the SDK will be released next week along with "a surprise for the community."

Valve have released an update for Half-Life 2. Here are the details: The changes in this release are directed at reducing the problem some users are experiencing with sound stuttering. The sound stuttering is not indicative of a sound problem, sound stuttering is only a symptom of texture thrashing on your video card or AGP memory. For information on how to reduce texture thrashing visit this link on our support site:

http://steampowered.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=280

This update will fix sound stuttering that users were experiencing that would last for longer than a few seconds during normal gameplay. This update will also eliminate this same behavior following a quicksave or autosave. There will still be a short pause while the autosave happens, but not the more drawn out stuttering behavior.

We are still investigating another performance problem on some hardware, which will manifest where the game is getting into a state where performance drops to less than 5 fps and does not recover or crashes. Restart your Steam clients to receive this update.

There is also a comment on what to expect next week... Next week we will be releasing the Source SDK, along with a surprise for the community. Surprise? Stay tuned, you know as much as we do.

Start the speculation on the "Surprise"!!!!1111!!!

Surprise?

More Maps and Player Models for the CS kiddies seem the most likely, but that wouldn't be a surprise...
DoD:S Is supposed to be released anyway, it wouldn't be surprising at all.

HL2DM or whatever would be pretty surprising, but seeing how people are screaming for an hl2dm i guess that wouldnt come out as a very 'shocking' surprise, not to mention how the game didn't have much of an MP at release it doesn't seem likely to be HL2DM either.

What would be surprising is if they announced that 3DRealms and Valve has secretly been cooperating and will then announce a release date on Steam for Duke Nukem: Forever, converted to Source! That would be  worthy indeed.

Does anyone else think it won't be a good surprise, more like something cheap, like putting chickens back into Counter-Strike, or another free game you can complete in less then an hour, Codename Gordon style?
