As far as I know, The Ban List has its own... ban list. I don't think this list is passed on to VAC secured servers though. And I think the banned are banned permanently.

It were just my thoughts, I don't know what's really going on. Maybe they are passed on to VAC.

The cheaters that we add to the confirmed bans do not get added to Valves database of cheaters or looked at by Valve as they feel that VAC is good enough to stop the cheaters, here lays the problem. As with computer viruii, new cheats are developed on a daily basis to overcome the security modules but whereas antivirus manufacturers update and release their new definitions on a daily basis Valve don't. Im sure that if they could do this the problem would be almost brought to a standstill.
The banlist that we have created is only used on servers whose server admins wish to use it. Currently there is work in progress to make the banlist more accessable and trackable for admins who wish to participate, which will update their banned.cfg automatically.
When a person is added to our ban list its permenant.

And the list is open for ANYONE to use.
Ill just repeat what has already been said...
Valve won't even refer cheat demos to us or any other anti-cheat program. They really do believe VAC is the best solution. It really could be...if they updated it.

hah, Valve gets more and more lame everytime i think about them. its one thing if they dont wanna update their **** and whatnot, but completly another to be stuck so far up its owns ass that it actually believes their software completly eliminates all hackers. wow arent these demos enough proof? and how many servers use TheBanList.cfg? it dosent tell u when u connect to it? valve sux
