Valve must be dead chuffed that this same statement keeps cropping up in every review I've seen or read so far...
"Better than Half-Life"
Nostalgia was always going to be the biggest hurdle for HL2 to overcome. It would be very easy for all the reviewers to say HL2 simply isn't as good as its much-loved predecessor, but for them to say it's better in all departments says a hell of a lot for it :)

Bleh. I want DOD:S and HL:S but I cant get it over Steam. I can't believe theyre forcing you to BUY mods that were previously free.

You don't need to buy over Steam for HL:S. It comes with the retail collectors edition. DoD:S doesn't, you'll need to buy that one seperatly.

The original mods ARE free. If you want the Source versions, you have to pay Valve who spent time and money porting these games to the Steam engine.

Well yeah I know. I already got the original mods AND CZ which is slightly annoying. Oh well.

They reckon they're close to a release date of DN:F.
3D Realms have just switched physics engine and say it won't take too long to implement it.
No word on what the release date will be though...

I think it needs at least 2 more years before it's even shown at E3. Then another few years of delay, THEN we'll be playing HL3, and HL1 and 2 will be remade to run on the HL3 engine, like with HL Source now.
