What do you mean "Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam?
All the games currently on Steam except the CS:S Beta.

Should I pre-load Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source?
The short answer is if you want to. Pre-loading allows you to download the files in encrypted format. You will have access to the games the moment they are released. If you purchase a Steam package, then you will need to download the files via Steam.

When can I pre-order?

How much do these packages cost?
The prices have not been announced. As soon as the prices are released, we will post them here.

Will I need a credit card to make my purchase from Steam?
Yes - Visa or MasterCard Accepted

I have an ATi Coupon. What games will I get?
The Bronze Package which includes Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source.

When will I be able to play my games?
- Counter-Strike: Source will be unlocked next week. This means you can play the full version of CS:S within another week!
- Half-Life 2 will be unlocked, the moment it is "released" - which means the minute it is available on store shelves.
- Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 1: Source do not have release dates yet.

If I purchase a package through Steam, will Valve mail me the game on CD or DVD format?
No

Does Half-Life 2 have a multi-player option?

What maps are available in Counter-Strike: Source once it is released?

Will the Counter-Strike Source Beta expire for Condition Zero owners?
Yes - at the same time that the game is officially released

Note that these numbers will change with future pre-loads and updates. They are current as of October 1, 2004.

Ive just read that there wont be a CD version of HL2 in the UK. They are only selling it on DVD. Im all for that imo. 6CDs is just ouch!

In Europe they sell it on DVD. In America u get it on 6CDs because much PC owners havent got a DVD Drive there. I dont know if u can get it on CDs in Europe.

Half-Life 2 Steam Offers Ready Thursday

Tomorrow at 11 am PST, the Half-Life 2 Steam offers will be ready for purchase. Details and pricing for these offers are pasted below. Those who purchase via Steam, will receive the final version of Counter-Strike: Source immediately. Half-Life 2 and other games in the Steam offerings will be made available to purchasers upon their release.

The gold option's actually cheaper than i at first guessed it would be (when converting USD to SEK...)

i meant at first i kinda translated 89$ to 800kr, but that was so off. it's more like 650kr.

though im not sure how much it'll be once the tax has been added on, but it shouldn't be that much (considering that 650 would be for gold, and im getting collectors, and since you dont get as much stuff with collectors as you do with gold, i take it collectors would be a tad cheaper)

New infos! Ok not to the package FAQ but i thought i post them here cuz this Thread is Sticky. :)

1. Preload Phase 7 - 1st Infos.
Gabe Newell informed a fan abt the Preload Phase 7.
We're going to start preloading the localized assets next.

Make sure that your Steam client is set to Spanish if you want to
preload those assets.

I was confused abt the Inet Connection. Today i read this on halflife2.net
Confirmation (again) from Valve that the RETAIL game requires authentication via Steam AND the Internet. (JonH is from Valve/Steam Support - sorry there are no headers - the reply was received via Steam Support on the Web)

I think its not a vy good idea to do this. OK u cant copy the Game then cuz u automatically register ur Copy of HL2 to ur Steam Account but there are always Crackers who will be able to write Cracks 4 every game. And not everyone got a Inet Connection. :rolleyes:

It doesn't matter, people with no internet will just download a crack from a friends house for HL2 to play offline without Steam.
