the fact that hl2 preloading has started means they're getting there. Hl2's release is closer than ever.

Uncompressed, the files in this preload are around 1GB. For Half-Life 2 to run, they have to be in this state. The first preload event contains most of the textures that Half-Life 2 needs to run.
This is the first of a number of preload events. WeŽll be adding more data to the preload over the next couple of weeks.

i weren't necessarily referring that there was only 1 preload. 'sides, the fact that more preloads are on the way just goes further to prove my point that hl2's release is closer than ever.

Surely those screenshots just show that the next issue of the magazine will be out on 22nd September.
Hmmm.

Release dates are all just speculation, Amazon are saying November, other companies are saying September. Im not going to take any dates for granted, as we all know what happened last time :(

I think Gabe's just having a laugh and HL2 is not even in development. The screenshots and videos released have just been mock-ups.
Counter Strike: Source is just a Beta test of the new Unreal Engine.

Edit
A while ago you could read the following on planethalflife (http://www.planethalflife.com) , "the countdown is on" and not so many later it was replaced by "Nothing to see here, Citizens. Move along, move along."
And now steam bandwith is going up...i have feeling there is about someting to happen...you'll see..
